Ripper of a day

Updated: Nov 22

Crisp white foam billows

as the waves tumble forward

early morning sun bleaches the colour form

thrum of the sea beating with my heart

Thrum….thrum…thrum.

Boards are out, waxed, gleaming

excitement in the air

the pull of the sea for those that catch her call

riding the waves, balletic like

bodies tall, yet tapering as they near the crescendo before falling into her wake.

These early summer mornings bring out the love, the fun, the friendliness

the ‘morning’ ‘g’day mate’, ‘ripper of a day’

the anticipation of months ahead of the sun on your skin

rays in your heart

long languid days as we nestle into the summer ahead.

My toes dig deep into the cool sand

a soft caress

a ‘stay with me awhile’

a ‘sit for one more for moment’

cherish this gift that is urging her way into my soul.

Listen, she says.

Listen to my call.
